Network marketing and network building are similar sounding terms but I was told they are like different branches of medicine. I don’t belive they can be that different. Any ideas?

They are completely different. Network marketing is about literally blasting people with your brand. It’s about brand identity. So if I ask you to immediately throw out some names for sports wear, you would probably spew out Adidas or Nike. That is marketing power.
Network BUILDING is about literally working with people and building and fostering relationships with them. When you build and maintain a good network, it also is a way that markets you and keeps you memorable in their minds. So if you’re a realtor and you’ve built your network well, you will be the first name or ONLY name they think of and want to work with when buying or selling a property.

Networking is a simple task when talking face to face. I think it’s all about the introduction. Most people fail to identify themselves in the beginning and it is just as important to follow up with a business card at the end of the conversation.
When networking online it is a bit different. Don’t confuse spamming or just tweeting your url with networking. It is more than that as it is based on building relationships. Focus on the latter and ytou will be well on your way. The
